Limitations

WAC is a public companion map, not an official transportation operations system.

Data limitations

  • Upstream agencies remain the system of record.
  • Coverage varies by state, provider, and data category.
  • Camera locations, direction, and labels can be incomplete or approximate.
  • Road-condition layers may represent selected roads rather than every local segment.
  • Freshness depends on both upstream publication and WAC processing.

Documentation limitations

The docs intentionally avoid low-level collection details. This protects upstream services from unnecessary duplication and keeps the public docs focused on interpretation, provenance, and responsible use.

Reporting problems

If something looks wrong on the map, include the location, source or agency if visible, the approximate time, and what seemed incorrect. That context makes it easier to distinguish upstream data issues from WAC processing issues.
